Feral-cat advocates push to halt Miami-area dune restoration project

Feral-cat supporters are up in arms over a project underway in Miami Beach, Fla., to build a path for pedestrians and bicyclists and replace invasive plants with native species that better prevent erosion and storm damage. Feral cats shelter in the vegetation, and some advocates want the city to halt the project, but city officials say the cats will not be harmed, they are working with animal services officials to oversee spaying and neutering, and that the new plants will provide shelter.
